The Villa hydroelectric power plant is located in the Orco Valley, 50 km north of Turin. It has been in operaion since 1962 and generates approximately 80 GWh of renewable energy per year.
The power plant's penstock is over 1,000 meters long and has a difference in height of almost 700 meters. As is often the case with these plants, a multi-purpose funicular was built to access the valve room at the top with personnel and materials needed during maintenance works.
The multi-purpose funicular, dating back to the 1960s, has undergone a revamping, started with the overhaul of the vehicle and ended in 2025 with the replacement of the LeBus multilayer drum hauling winch and the hauling rope.
