Flyingbelt Taldih, India

Flyingbelt Taldih, India

Just over a year ago, Adani Enterprises Limited and Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) signed an agreement for the development and operation of the Taldih iron ore mine, located in the Koida block in the state of Odisha, India.

The project aims to increase the mine’s production capacity from the current 2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 7 MTPA through the construction of a new plant and the installation of a conveyor belt system to transport the ore from the Taldih mine to Barsua railway station.

The conveyor belt project presented several challenges due to running mining operations and the difficult terrain; after studying various alternatives, in late 2025, Adani signed a contract with Agudio for the design and supply of a Flyingbelt with an hourly capacity of 2,000 tonnes, which will form an integral part of the conveyor belt system and enable the optimisation of the conveyor route whilst minimising its environmental impact.

The Flyingbelt, supported by just five supports, will have a total length of 2,800 metres and a record span of 1,150 metres, making it the first Flyingbelt with six suspension cables.

Site preparation work is currently underway and the Flyingbelt is scheduled to come into service in 2027.
